Stuff Journalists Like – #41 Scandals

Scandalsjpg Nothing gets a journalist’s blood pumping like a good scandal.

Be it a government, police, sex, drug or even a parks a recreation scandal, journalists like them all.

The apex of scandals has to be when more than one of the above entities is involved.

For instance, say a sex scandal involving a mayor and school nurse who meet in a park and do drugs provided by police officers comes to light. Such a scandal would make even the most jaded of journalists begin to salivate at the mouth and weak at the knees.

Journalists like scandals because they are stories that write themselves, and have headlines that contain big bold words like “Weapons Cache,” or “Sex Cellar.”

Scandals are like a sweet dinner mint for journalists that make all the meat and potatoes of the daily grind worthwhile.
