Awww, come on! Your teaser hede said when the recorder “fails.” Heck, it’s SO much more stressful when you didn’t/couldn’t take ANY notes at all and then realize you just screwed yourself because you also forgot to hit the “on” button than it is when you intentionally don’t bring a machine. Believe me…lmao.
oh, and of course you tell your editor/desk mates (if they bother to ask!) that the recorder “failed” (not that you forgot to turn it on!)
