It's hard to get a job as a photographer not so much because of copyright law but because the market is saturated with kids and the newest digital SLRs and Photoshop. It doesn't take much to become one anymore. I know one who has virtually no formal training and a crappy digital SLR but is highly creative and can get to places most normal ones don't. And he still can barely get work. I live in a house full of photgraphy students who are paying tens of thousands of dollars in tuition and equipment per semester at a private institution and guess what - most of them are going to be spending the rest of their careers trying to pay off their school loans, unless they got rich parents. It's sad

Press releases that make you click on a link to get a "high-resolution photo." And then the link is 404'ed. Nice. I found this: "...PR folks think it’s completely fine to call a journalist and letting them know about a press event...".

That's right -- it was MO's viewpoint that drove SOPA. Glad you were able to locate the original demon. Pitchforks and torches, everybody! Let's get MO before his viewpoint possesses anyone else's soul. Don't forget to bring the silver spike!
Yes, MO MUST realize the error - and we have ways of making you realize, you know.
Better than than implosion of the whole Internet. I mean, if we start discussing intellectual property today, tomorrow, every word in the English language will be trademarked and we'll be prohibited from speaking without first paying royalties to copyright holders, who trade the once-free words on Wall Street.
It's your choice - refuse to discuss professional courtesy or have your tongue traded like pork-belly futures on Wall Street. Don't let your tongue be traded like a pork-belly future on Wall Street. Steal someone's picture and repost it today.

For the most part, I find I can balance my work and personal life, but I find that everyone else thinks you are always on the clock when you work at a weekly paper in a smaller city. Since they know who you are and what your job is, everyone thinks they personally know you and have a story for you, whether you are in the grocery store, restaurant or library, trying to do some personal business. You get to the point where you are almost a hermit and only come out when you know most people won't be. You start thinking, "I need to buy milk. Well I might as well wait until 8 p.m. No one will be in the grocery stores then."
